Through my lens... with David Olusoga OBE
Wycliffe Scholars’ Society is delighted to announce the re-launch of the Wycliffe Lecture Series this month.
Two years after we welcomed Poet Laureate, Simon Armitage to Wycliffe, we will host an evening with Professor David Olusoga OBE, a BAFTA-winning documentary-maker, author, historian and TV presenter.David Olusoga has been described as “one of the UK’s foremost respected historians, ranked amongst the most influential Black Britons of our time”. He is Professor of Public History at Manchester University and has presented TV shows such as A House Though Time, and Civilisations. He is a regular contributor to The Observer, The New Statesman BBC History Magazine and The Guardian. He is author of award-wining books including ‘Black and British: A Forgotten History’ and ‘The World’s War’.
The event, which starts with refreshments at 6.45pm, will be themed ‘Through my Lens… perspectives on equality, diversity and inclusion.’ and features keynote speeches and a panel Q&A session. Among other speakers in Sibly Hall on Wednesday 30th March 2022 will be Temi Akindele Barker, founder of Inclusion Labs.
Inclusion Labs is an independent, community interest organisation that creates impactful programmes to embed diversity, equity and inclusion into every young person’s educational, cultural and personal development. Inclusion Labs was set up by Temi Akindele Barker, who describes herself as “a mum of two daughters”. She began her career as a consultant in Legal Executive Search, both in the UK and internationally, eventually becoming Co-Head of the Senior Team covering US and UK law firms, and US financial institutions. A key part of her role involved supporting local and multinational clients to achieve their strategic goals. She is keen to ensure that diversity issues include but reach beyond issues of race. our focus is centred on young people and how any of these issues affect their ability to thrive.
